My passion for photos started when I was a little girl. My Mom documented our childhood with dozens of albums, all beautifully dated and labeled. Each photo was carefully added to the album, secured with black corners, In my Mom’s distinctively neat handwriting, she would write the name, date and place. I used to spend hours looking through our family albums.

Naturally, I followed in my Mom’s footsteps. Safe to say, as our family grew, I built quite a library of family photos. Photos were always organized in albums, whether they were printed or digital. As time went on, I thought of creative ways to enjoy our family memories. I enjoyed creating montages to highlight birthdays, holidays, vacations, graduations, etc.

I was the class mom, when our oldest daughter was in kindergarten. At the end of the year, I organized the photos I had taken all year and surprised the class with a video, highlighting their year. It was a huge hit.  The kids were so happy, and loud, that you could barely hear the music!  As it turned out,  the kindergarten  video was a springboard that led me to create videos for our kids, every year of elementary school, and their 5th grade graduation videos as well.   For years, family & friends encouraged me to turn my passion into a business.    I couldn’t imagine adding more to my plate, as  I was already working full time in a different business, and was very busy with 3 young kids.  However, as 40 was approaching, something clicked, and I decided it was time for a change.  

In 2008, CARAMEL STUDIOS was launched and named after our kids, CARoline,  Andrew  & MELanie. The name worked well, because I also have quite a sweet tooth. Every montage is wrapped to coordinate with the theme of the montage and of course, includes some caramel candies. Soon after I launched Caramel Studios, I created a montage for Caroline’s Bat Mitzvah.  After viewing it, our party planner, Arlene Rosenthal, referred one of her clients to me.  From there, my business took off and grew based on referrals. Mitzvahs became my niche, but I create montages for every occasion.  Last year it seemed like I covered it all - a special birthday, anniversary, mitzvah, wedding, graduation, vacation, holiday, memorial, retirement, reunion, farewell party, etc.   Building relationships with my clients is the key to understanding what is important, and how I can make their memories come to life. 

14 years later, I find this work more exciting and fulfilling than when I started.  I’m always thinking about new ways to showcase memories - whether it’s creating a project with photos or videos, the possibilities are endless!

Should you choose to work with me, I will create the montage as if it were my own.  If I don't get emotional watching the montage, I keep tweaking until I do!
